With Christmas just 9 weeks away searches
and bookings for city breaks, in particular
to traditional Christmas markets, are on the
rise according to lowcostholidays.com, the
low cost holiday experts.
There has been an 85% increase year on year
in the number of customers searching for
Christmas market destinations and overall
bookings for short breaks are up 95% over
last month.
Commenting on the interest in short break
destinations, CEO Paul Evans said:
"For many of our customers, a 3 or 4
night city break is proving a popular escape
for winter. We're working very closely with
hoteliers to provide a large number of free
night offers which, when combined with the
cheap low cost carrier fares that we have
access to, ensure we can offer great value
city breaks."
Matt Hall, Head of Product at
www.lowcostholidays.com adds:
"Searches for Xmas markets in Prague,
Munich and Budapest are leading the way as
they offer a holiday and Christmas shopping
trip in one. City hoteliers know that they
need to offer something extra to attract UK
holidaymakers such as a free night or free
breakfast upgrade.
At lowcostholidays.com we’re happy to pass
these savings on to our customers which
explains the jump in sales over this period
– up by 125% vs last year.
Other popular short break destinations have
also increased over the last month with
bookings to Barcelona up by 115% compared to
the previous month and bookings to Prague up
by 105% over last month."
Prices in November for 3 nights in Prague
start from £115 per person staying at the 3
star Slavia Hotel on a bed and breakfast
basis with flights from London Gatwick.
In December three nights in Budapest at the
3 star Hotel Lisa on a bed and breakfast
basis start from £103 per person including
